Windows Update stuck ad 45% (es. KB4035631 fails)

NOTE: the following steps are ok to be followed as a procedure to reset Windows Update components, but these steps did not solve the problem with this particular update. We needed to manually download and install the update in order to solve the problem.

To troubleshoot this issue, could you please follow the steps below to have a test?
Run command prompt as administrator
Type the following command to stop related services temporarily:
net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
3. Rename the SoftwareDistribution and Catroot2 folder by running the following commands:
ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old

If an error occurs when trying to rename usa again the command "net stop wuauserv" and retry renaming

4. Restart related services:
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
net start msiserver
5. Close the command prompt and check if the issue persists
